Here's something I learned yesterday about the song for our Green Turtles puppet show Hoedown, while listening to Performance Today:
Aaron Copland visited a composer in Argentina who had just written a ballet about cowboys in Argentina. Soon after coming home he composed Rodeo, a ballet about American cowboys!
The theme of Hoedown is heard throughout the ballet, but the music from our puppet show is from the end.
